MEMORABLE MOMENT : La Veranda Phu Quoc

Today I tell you about the “Memorable Moment” by La Veranda Resort in Phu Quoc in Vietnam (if you didn’t read my first article about this amazing hotel in Phu Quoc and this wonderful island by the MGallery Collection brand, click here: DISCOVER).

One of the most beautiful experiences in Phu Quoc is to visit An Thoi village and the archipelago of small coral islands close to it. We woke up early that they, after breakfast we went to the lobby to take the shuttle bus to An Thoi. There a team of the hotel including the Peppertree Chef was waiting for us to accompany during our journey. We started visiting the Ho Quoc Buddhist temple. It is very difficult to describe concretely the emotions I had, but from the insides and the decorations, to the view dominating the bay of Dam Beach, to the sounds of the wind chimes it was really an unexpected magical moment.

After a short tour around the temple we move towards An Thoi. We stopped over at the local market and there it was an explosions of colours and parfumes. Every local home was turned for the morning in a small shop or even cinema sometimes, the Chef bought there the enough to prepare a special lunch at the magic island I was about to discover. Then we moved to the harbour where our Vietnamese boat was ready to leave. The view on the harbour from the boat was simply unique, the noise, the confusion created by this strange and coloured boats was making me take a picture per second. After a cruise into the archipelago in front of An Thoi we finally reached our destination: Gam Ghi Island, where the hotel is owning a private beach. The island is almost inhabited, it is really a paradise of transparent waters, white beaches a volcanic rocks, something you can’t miss in Phu Quoc.

Once in life everyone should experience the sensation to have one entire island for his own. After hours of snorkeling through the beautiful corals around the island the crew call us: it was the lunch time. On the side of the beach a small table for two was waiting for us and there between a glass of white wine and the other we could taste a fantastic lunch with the fresh ingredients bought few hours before in front of the bay hearing the sound of the sea crashing to the shore. A quick tour of the island jungle and another long snorkeling and it was time to go back, but not before a fishing session in the middle of the sea! Below our catch for the evening dinner!

I arrived back to the hotel around 6pm and I were really tired by the long day at Gam Ghi. I passed through the SPA building and it was impossible not to stop there. The massage I got was in Vietnamese style and compared to the general massage you can get in the resort was very professional and relaxing so that in the next day I decide to learn it. How to? It was actually very simple because the hotel is providing a class of Vietnamese Massage through their “Wellness Experience”.

After the class of Vietnamese massage at the resort Spa I left for the discovery of Sao beach and the restaurant Paradiso (I will soon talk to you about that)!
