The Peninsula New York hotel is the perfect location to choose as a base for a trip to the Big Apple. This was certainly not my first time in New York, but as every time I go, right after I cross the line of the airport exit, I immediately felt surrounded by the beauty of this coloured, big noisy, lively city.

At the exit, the shuttle was waiting to drop me the Peninsula Hotel, which dominates the cross between the 5th avenue and the 55th street, in the real heart of Manhattan. In few steps Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Abercrombie, the Apple Store, the NBA store… everything.

Thanks to the welcome treatment from the hotel personnel I could immediately feel “almost” at home; the “almost” it’s just due to the fact that just looking around you can admire the luxury, the beauty and the perfection in design. As you know I am quite well known “gourmand” and I immediately took a delicious “traditional afternoon tea” at the Gotham Lounge, a hall featured by a definitely chic Manhattan Deco. And then right after this short break I couldn’t wait to have a look to my really fantastic room, from whose windows I could admire all the best fashion shops on the 5th avenue, the mythic and infinite New York yellow cabs, the skyscrapers and the thousands people moving in every direction. Just enough time to wear a bikini and I went to the pool, at the 22nd floor, and also from here the view was breathtaking!

I spent almost one entire day in the relax and discovery of the Peninsula New York but the days after I could make shopping in all the boutiques I was looking from my windows and to try the amazing ayurvedic treatments at the Peninsula SPA. A really relaxing experience which made me discover a fantastic hairdressing saloon inside the hotel where expert hands were ready to take care of by hairs with some fantastic Shu Uemura products which I really loved.

At night I had dinner at Clement, the hotel restaurant, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, with again a nice view on the Fifth Avenue. The restaurant offers some special dishes created on purpose to tribute the classics of the real American Kitchen. In the end I loved my “slow braised wagyu beef”.

After dinner, you can go up, at the last floor (a classic in New York), where you can find the Salon Ning, an innovative rooftop bar with a terrace looking from the top the never sleeping city, where it is possible to dream with the eyes open while drinking a tasty cocktail (I suggest you to try the “Ning Sling”).

The only negative thing to stay at this fantastic hotel is that feeling that soon or later in the end it will come, it will come the moment to leave, and in the end few days later it happens to me. But in the end I can’t stay away from New York too much and I hope to have another chance to stay at the Peninsula New York very soon.
